That’s Microsoft SmartScreen being cautious about new independent apps. It appears for any program that hasn’t accumulated a download history yet, not because anything is wrong. Click More info → Run anyway. The app is a single small executable. Apart from its update check, it goes online only for features you turn on, and the answer about your data below lists them.
Windows 11 (the WebView2 runtime it uses ships with Windows). Run the installer: no admin rights needed, it installs just for your user, adds a Start Menu entry, and starts with Windows. Prefer no installer? There is a portable zip too.

On Windows the installed app quietly checks for a new version a few times a day. When one is out it downloads in the background and a small tray notification appears. Right-click the tray icon → Install update, and about five seconds later you’re on the new version. Nothing installs without your click, and your events are never touched. The free app gets its updates from this site. Pro updates itself on Windows and Mac, from our license server, which checks your license key first, so keep the key in Settings → Pro. An update never uses your Pro download. On a Mac, Pro puts Install update in its menu-bar menu when one is ready. The free Mac app has no updater yet: Check for updates in Settings opens this site to download the new version.
Stripe sends you straight to a page with your license key and the Pro download. Install Pro over the free version: your events and settings stay. Then open Settings → Pro, paste the key in the License box and press Activate. Activating needs the internet once, and each key works on two computers. Keep the key somewhere safe, because Pro’s updates only download with it.

Go to license.dcgapps.com/lost and type the email you paid with and the receipt number from your Stripe receipt email (it looks like 1234-5678). That brings back the page with your key. With the key you can download Pro again at license.dcgapps.com/get, as long as it has a download left.
Each key includes one download, and updates are free and never use it. To put Pro on another computer, copy the file you already downloaded (it is in your Downloads folder) to it by USB stick or a cloud folder, install it there and paste your key in Settings → Pro. No accounts, no telemetry. Events live in plain JSON files under your own user folder. The free app reaches the internet for the weather forecast for the city you set, for calendar feeds and shared calendars if you add them, for the update check, and to send one word if you answer the optional question on first run. Pro adds Google Calendar sync and the AI assistant, which talk to Google and Anthropic, each only if you turn it on. Activating Pro sends your key and a scrambled id of the computer to our license server once. There is also a Detect button on the weather setting that works out your city from your IP address, which is the one feature that tells an outside service roughly where you are. It runs only when you press it. The privacy page lists everything.
Yes. That’s the point. Icons, files and apps sit on top and always win clicks. The calendar only reacts when you click actual empty wallpaper, and a plain right-click still opens the normal Windows menu.
